The story of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. begins centuries before his birth and continues. This is a story of many, many season and is global in scope. The movement’s plight may have initially been about African Americans in the public eye, but became a catalyst to all people, especially those of color, lower income status and alternative lifestyle. All have used Dr. King’s movement as their platform. My hope is that this book will inspire people to read one more book about the civil rights movement; read one more article about Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. himself, and engage in physical service instead of merely lip service. Just as the Holocaust in indelibly inked in our minds, it is important that Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s contribution to human rights be highlighted in our minds, lives and history books.
